A basement in Banbury: before, during and after conversion.
The damp, cold basement.. ..becomes a dry and light new room.
The brickwork recess was transformed with built-in shelving and cupboards.
Early investigation revealed additional space available for an alcove. The alcove under construction. Finished alcove offers additional working space.

Ready-mixed concrete is pumped into the cellar. The floor slab being laid.
Shuttering forms a drainage channel around the base of the walls. The drainage channel starts and finishes in the sump. Finishing the floor slab.
Part of the floor drainage channel, before the drainage pipe is laid. Geotextile-wrapped drainage pipe runs around the base of the walls. The drainage pipe in the channel is now covered with shingle.
The drainage channel runs into the sump pit below the access cover. A high-performance pump is fitted to expel collected water from the sump.
 
. Ceiling, wall and floor cavity drain membranes (CDMs) are now fitted.
Plasterboard is fixed to the wall battens. Here the cavity drain membranes and battens are fixed around the window, ready for plasterboarding.
After plasterboarding, the plastering can be done. > next gallery
